I am not a homelabber. Labs are places for experimentation. Labs are for research. Labs can treat failure as a learning experience. I do not have a lab. My services should almost never go down, unless there is an emergency.
What I value in self hosting:
- Stability.
- Understandability.
- Ease of use.
- Simplicity.
I do not add services I don’t need. If something stops working, I am quick to replace it with a more stable solution. I can go for many months without touching a single thing.
